Although the Gravel Grovel traverses a fairly remote area, there are some awesome perches along the way to partake of the spectacle of the ambitious riders as they grind their way through the course. A prime location will be the Hickory Grove Church and Cemetery where you will be able to see the riders before they tangle with the Hickory Ridge Loop as well as on their return just prior to their plunge down McPike Branch to the halfway point at Hunter’s Creek. Fans will have plenty of time to watch the start before they take the drive out to the Church/Cemetery, cheer and/or jeer the riders as they pass and still make it back in time to partake of a beverage of their choice as they await the return of the riders. Directions will be supplied to Hickory Grove Church and Cemetery to flow with the riders at the Story Inn.
